Stay Safe: 4 Things You Should NEVER Do While Driving (Especially in a 2015 Hyundai Veloster) – Nicholasville, KY

Have you seen the 2015 Hyundai Veloster? This compact car is super sporty and good looking! The best thing is how roomy the interior is, since it’s perfect for a night on the town with your friends.  This is a great car to get your friends in together to head to the party: There’s an available 115-volt outlet for power, plus additional inputs that let you connect a video or flash drive. This means you can download your favorite images and create slideshows of your latest adventure in real time. Crazy!

While these cool features may seem like it’s going to be nonstop fun, don’t forget to pay attention while you drive! I’ve seen some people do some pretty unsafe things (unsafe to do while driving!) and it should be mentioned that a lot of the technology in the Veloster is meant for safety, not just entertainment.  What kind of unsafe things? Here are four things you should NEVER do while driving:

Selfies

Social media is great and I LOVE seeing what my friends are up to, but taking a selfie while you’re driving is never a good idea.  You may be trying to find just the right angle to show off your new hairdo, but you need to be making sure you’re not going to end up showing of that new dent in your car because you accidentally rear ended someone….oooops!

Texting

I enjoy talking to my friends on the phone, but sometimes texting is just that much easier. It’s a habit, but I’ve seen people try to text and drive and it never looks good. I’ve seen people swerve, miss the light, cut people off, and drive about 20 miles under the speed limit because they were staring at their phone.  The 2015 Hyundai Veloster has Bluetooth capabilities, so while on the road, it’s easier to chat than text.  Also, you won’t get a ticket for hands- free talking!

Changing Clothes

I was in some pretty bad traffic, and the lady next to me started to take off her business attire.  While in the drivers seat.  She actually got down to her skivvies and then pulled a pair of sweats and a t-shirt out of the gym bag next to her. She clearly had done this a bajillion times before, because by the time traffic picked up she was fully changed and pulling her hair back into a ponytail. Ladies, the gym does have a dressing room.

Eating Soup

This one I had to add in here because to this day I still can’t believe I witnessed it.  There was a man, in downtown traffic, eating a hot bowl of soup as he was driving.  He would sometimes have it on the dashboard, and other times held precariously up on the steering wheel.  I have no doubt he enjoyed it, but the thought of that steaming hot liquid falling into a lap just made me cringe.

So that’s the rundown of just a few things I’ve noticed while out and about.  I think the Veloster has enough going for it that people would try to break a lot of these bad driving habits out of fear of wrecking the car or getting a ticket, but who knows. If you haven’t yet seen the 2015 Hyundai Veloster, head down to Hyundai of Nicholasville and check it out for yourself!  It would be the perfect opportunity to snap a quick selfie while the car’s standing still!
